Onion Bacon Jam Recipe and spread it on everything! - Ketofocus (4)

Bacon is such a common ingredient in keto diets due to it being so high in fat and protein yet being low in carbs.

However, bacon jam sounds like a strange concept when you hear about it for the first time as you wouldn’t think to combine bacon and jam together. But this combination makes the perfect condiment for keto burgers, hot dogs or on top of keto bread.

Bacon jam is made by using ingredients which most people following a low carb diet would typically already have in their kitchens. It is very easy to make as all you have to do is cook the ingredients in a skillet and then add the mixture to a food processor or blender and pulse until it looks like a chunky jam or relish.

Some recipes use balsamic vinegar or brown sugar to add sweetness and flavor, but we are able to keep it low carb by using a sugar free maple syrup and smoked paprika.

The recipe takes around an hour to make but it makes around 8 servings, meaning it will last you for quite a few times, even if it is shared with your family. The most difficult thing about this recipe is waiting for the bacon mixture to thicken up!

    Sugar free condiment

Most store bought condiments are typically very high in sugars, making them not keto friendly. Many manufacturers add sugar to their recipe to make it more palatable leaving the low carb dieters to make their own condiments like homemade bacon jam.

This bacon jam is rich in flavors and makes a great addition to any meal, from burgers to steak to keto rolls. The texture comes out thick yet still spreadable, making it perfect to use as a topping, a dip or even on the side of meals!

Due to its sweet yet salty taste, it makes for a great addition to your morning eggs or even with chicken sliders! Bacon jam can also be added to charcuterie boards for an extra hint of flavor and to impress any guests you may have over. This bacon jam is also the perfect food to take with you to a potluck or give as a hostess gift as not many people would think to bring it with them and you’re sure to impress everyone there!

We warn you, it might become your new favorite keto condiment as it makes everything taste better! While you’re making the onion bacon jam, the smell will travel throughout the whole house, and it will definitely make the whole family ask what you’re making!

In order to make this bacon jam sweet yet still low in carbs, we use a sugar free maple syrup which makes it taste more like the traditional bacon jam than using sweetener would. The paprika and pepper add in the smoky flavor to created a smoked bacon experience.
