I believe this legislation will bring a desperately needed wave of innovation to helping North Carolina’s families obtain quality learning for their children and overcome obstacles and weaknesses inherent in today's public school system, especially in underperforming areas. This can bring about new models that meet the needs of neighborhoods, and enable many more kids to access programs and opportunities they would otherwise not have access to. There is much work to be done, and this is just the first step.https://lnkd.in/gsyt2Hcf

I struggle to see the congruency here Peter. I think we all agree that early childhood is critical to human development and that greater one-on-one adult/child contact is the key. So why is your focus on decreasing one-on-one child-parent contact by encouraging greater group childcare/pre-school care? Why not lobby for, and contribute to, a taxation structure where parents are financially better off when spending more time with children, not less?

It's true well-defined problems make it easier to find a solution path. Businesses adopting family-friendly policies are building up resiliency and trust with their current and future staff. Very cool to see this form of long-term thinking and action gain traction across the land, easy to start with a quick assessment:

This article from the 74 and Cami Anderson, former Superintendent of Newark Public Schools, is an amazing read. It caused me to reflect deeply on my experience as a charter school principal. There are many things that I wish I had done better in that role and yet also many things that I am proud of from my time in that role. Ultimately, our schools are central in driving our nation forward. Successful schools lead to successful students and successful economies.
